Despite the fact that everyone involved in this project is a gifted composer, these four musicians decided to widely pass on playing their own songs and focus mainly on the joy of playing material out of the Great American Song Book.

Wayne Escoffery: Since 2000, he has been working in New York City with Carl Allen, Eric Reed, and the Mingus Big Band. Other musicians performed with include Ralph Peterson, Ben Riley, Ron Carter, Rufus Reid, Bill Charlap, Bruce Barth, Jimmy Cobb, and Eddie Henderson. He has worked with vocalists including Mary Stallings, Cynthia Scott, Nancie Banks, Laverne Butler, and Carolyn Leonhart. In addition to performing with his own Quartet and Quintet, Escoffery currently performs and tours with Ben Riley’s Monk Legacy Septet, The Mingus Band, Abdullah Ibrahim’s Akaya, The Carolyn Leonhart Group, and Jazz at Lincoln Center: The Music of Miles Davis. He is a member of The Tom Harrell Quintet. All About Jazz’s J. Xavier Davis: Davis’ professional career took off when the legendary vocalist Betty Carter brought Xavier to New York, hiring him exclusively as the pianist of her working trio. Today, Xavier is one of the most accomplished Jazz pianists worldwide. Xavier’s development as a musician has been greatly influenced by the inspiration and guidance he has received from Carl Allen, James Williams, and Billy Hart, whom he sees and respects as his great mentors. He has performed and recorded with the legendary Freddie Hubbard, Tom Harrell, Christian McBride, Abbey Lincoln, Wynton Marsalis, Nat Adderley, Nicholas Payton among others. Xavier is part of the Christian McBride Big Band and was featured on Christian’s album ‘The Good Feeling’, which won a GRAMMY award in 2012. www.xavierdavis.com

Lorenzo Conte: Venice-born bassist Lorenzo Conte has played with Italian and American jazz veterans like Jesse Davis, Eddie Henderson, Ronnie Mathews, Art Farmer, John Hicks, Harry Allen, Ronnie Cuber, Gianni Basso, Steve Grossman, Flavio Boltro, Slide Hampton, Fabrizio Bosso just to name a few. He has also performed at the most important jazz clubs and festivals in Italy, France, Switzerland, Russia, the Netherlands, Germany, Tunisia, Spain, Croatia and Slovenia.

Joris Dudli: Joris has been a steady member of the Vienna Art Orchestra and the Art Farmer Quintet from 1979 to 1985. After moving to the US in 1986, he has performed and recorded with many of the great jazz musicians of the world: The Zawinul Syndicate, Benny Golson, Curtis Fuller, Sonny Fortune, Johnny Griffin, Mullgrew Miller, Clifford Jordan, Joe Lovano, Joe Henderson, and many more. www.jorisdudli.com
